Why do I need FPU?
Research shows that 70% of all households live paycheck to paycheck...so you probably need this class! Debt (usually credit card debt and student loans) is the single leading cause of marriages to fall apart. Add to that, there is a tremendous lack of financial literacy among adults today. Basic household finance is not taught in school (nor by many parents to their kids), so the result is that debt is considered normal and natural in our culture...it’s not!!
What does the class consist of?
FPU consists of a one hour video by Dave Ramsey, then about 30 minutes of follow up questions and discussion of the lesson just viewed. If you follow what Dave teaches, you will get out of debt, learn to budget and start saving money. FPU also teaches you about insurance, negotiating, mortgages, investing etc.
I listen to Dave on the radio and have read some of his books, so what benefit is the class to me?
Information and/or knowledge is one thing...putting it into action and making that action a habit is another. This class teaches you to make changes in your life to effect real change in your financial life.
