“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” -- Ephesians 4:32
As followers of Jesus, we are called to His way of forgiveness. But for many of us, forgiveness can feel like a crushing, guilt-ridden burden instead of a freeing, life-giving joy.
Jesus’ teaching on forgiveness gives us a lot of questions: Why should I forgive someone who doesn’t deserve it? What if I really want to follow Jesus in forgiveness, but I just don’t know what to practically do? Should I forgive someone who has abused me? What place do boundaries have in Jesus’ teaching on forgiveness? Is there a difference between forgiveness and reconciliation?
In this session, we’ll explore Jesus’ teaching on forgiveness in three parts:
We’ll look at Jesus’ teaching on forgiveness in Scripture
We’ll listen to Daniel, our licensed Counseling Pastor, share practical counseling tools regarding the process of forgiveness
We’ll spend some time in prayer and reflection with a guided prompt together
